Flooded road
Authorities in Limpopo say rescue teams will continue to search for three people who have been swept away in flood waters following heavy rains.
A Somali national and two other people were trying to cross a submerged bridge in Tswinga village outside Thohoyandou when they were swept away.
Some residents have been unable to cross the bridge over the Mutale river which has burst its banks.
Resident Mulalo Ramakhuba says he was forced to leave his vehicle after failing to cross the bridge.
“We stay here and now we can’t pass because the river is full so we can’t go to work now because we can’t pass the bridge with our car that’s why we left it there.”
Meanwhile, flood victims in Makhuva village outside Giyani are calling for the provincial government’s urgent intervention.
Some have lost all their belongings after their houses were flooded.
Flood victims say they desperately need humanitarian assistance.
