Phahlane commends Mkhwanazi for speaking out

Former acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane has commended KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi for the allegations he made.

Phahlane was speaking at Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee hearings in Cape Town.

He says Mkhwanazi had made similar allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system before.

“Mkhwanazi went on public on issues which are of national importance. When he went public, that was not the first time he was raising those issues. I know he said he was in Parliament, I think once or twice on the related issues and so on.”

“Nothing happened to those issues until he went on the 6th of July 2025. Here we are, we have got an Ad Hoc Committee and we have got Madlanga [Commission of Inquiry]. Could it not have happened after the March Parliamentary sessions.”
