Limpopo’s Education Department has announced that schools in the Vhembe and Mopani districts should not open this week due to flooding.
In a statement, the department says this to ensure the safety of learners and teachers within the affected areas.
The harsh and severe weather conditions have caused flooding in some parts of the districts.

The South African Weather Services issued a level 9 warning for Wednesday, the day that coincides with the re-opening of schools.
The department says it will monitor the affected areas and give updates.
