Two men arrested in Kempton Park with drugs worth over R200 000


Two men have been arrested in Kempton Park, north-east of Johannesburg, for allegedly being in possession of drugs with a street value of over R200 000.  The suspects who are foreign nationals are expected to appear in a local magistrate’s court soon.

They are facing charges of dealing with illicit substances and contravening the Immigration Act.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa says, “A body search on the first suspect led to the discovery of eighteen ziplock bags of CAT, six small ziplock bags of Crystal Meth with an estimated street value of R1 240 in cash.”

“Further investigation led officers to nearby premises, at the corner of Willow and Park Street, where the supplier was located. A thorough search uncovered 100 full Mandrax tablets, 100 half Mandrax tablets, 36 Crystal Meth ziplock bags plus two large plastics of Crystal Meth, 185  ziplock bags of heroine, plus two plastic bags of heroine, and 22 plastic bags of CAT and R1 048.20 in cash. The total street value of the drugs is estimated at over R200 000.”
