Cop, teachers among 34 arrested for drunk driving: KZN Transport

The KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department says a policeman, healthcare workers and teachers are among the 34 people arrested in eMnambithi, for drinking and driving on Saturday night. The department held road safety operations in several parts of the province. This as many holidaymakers are making their way back home early from the festive holidays.

The department’s spokesperson Ndabe Sibiya says no one is above the law, not even government employees.

“We’ve got soldiers, policemen, you have a court interpreter, you’ve got nurses, you’ve got doctors, you’ve got quite a number of professionals across all sectors of the economy. You go to Amanzimtoti, go to Kokstad, you go to Richards Bay and other parts of the province of KwaZulu-Natal; the message that the MEC Siboniso Duma is sending is that nobody is above the law.”
