Two inquest dockets opened after couple found dead in Sharpeville

Gauteng police have opened two inquest dockets after the discovery of bodies of a couple in Sharpeville, Vaal. The body of a 29-year old woman was discovered hidden under the bed on New Year’s Day.

This is after the man’s family discovered his body at the same house the previous day. The couple is believed to have had a domestic dispute which led to the man allegedly killing the woman and then himself.

“Two inquest dockets have been opened following the discovery of two bodies at a house in Sharpeville. The first male body was discovered on  31 December 2025 and the female’s body was discovered on 01 January 2026 hidden under the bed. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are unknown and post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death on both victims.
