The Border Management Authority (BMA) says that it has intercepted more than 540 travellers across various ports of entry in Limpopo. It says that it has also recorded high number of travellers at all ports of entry.
However, Beit Bridge has been leading in traffic volumes as travellers return from various destinations.
BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says they have enlisted additional resources and operational support.
“To manage the increased volumes, multiple processing, interception points have been established at all major ports. Beit Bridge continues to lead with a high number of volume in land borders with over 22 483 processed on 3 January alone. At Beit Bridge, elevated volumes have been largely driven by the simultaneous arrival of buses from Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.”
