Traffic surge on N4 as holidaymakers travel back to Gauteng

Traffic volume is increasing on the N4 toll road in Mpumalanga towards the direction of Gauteng. This as many holidaymakers start to return home from various destinations. Since the province also serves as a gateway to the Kingdom of Eswatini and Mozambique, the number of vehicles is expected to rise significantly throughout the day, as migrant workers return to work.

There will be a number of road safety operations along the N4. Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu is concerned about deaths on roads.

“They are saying its 143. So, you can see that the graph is growing and in the main, the causes of fatalities I know that always people will blame our roads and according to the report is our roads. People will complain about weather, the main here in the province are man made and it is a problem to me. Today, I am here to tell drivers that if they want to commit suicide they must commit suicide alone, they must leave our good passengers,” says Ndlovu.
