KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli speaks during community engagements at Cecil Emmett Hall in Vryheid on November 6, 2025.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has welcomed the decision taken by the speaker of the Provincial Legislature in suspending 32 members of uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) and one from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
In a statement, Speaker Nontembeko Boyce said the Legislature will not tolerate violence, intimidation or deliberate disruption of its proceedings.
The suspension follows chaotic scenes during the motion of no confidence sitting on December 15 after disgruntled MKP members failed to remove Ntuli from his position as premier.
Ntuli says they will always support the speaker in restoring dignity of the house.
He says, “When we change the house into a chaotic environment which will not benefit the people who have their hopes on us, the speaker has the responsibility to actually cause some action. So we will support the speaker…even if it’s myself, people from the right or from the left, we will support her when there is a behaviour done that is unacceptable every member must know that there will always be action.”
