Manager at Wanderers Taxi Rank in Johannesburg, Chris Ngobeni, says security has been tightened to ensure the safety of travellers making their way to various destinations.
This as thousands of passengers are still expected to make their way, trying to make it home on time for Christmas festivities with their families.
Ngobeni says the safety of travellers remains a top priority and they expect the rank to remain a hive of activities.
He says security personnel have been on foot since the early hours of the morning.
“We have got security who are just moving around in private clothes so that criminals don’t recognise them and seven securities in uniform around the rank trying to control criminals. So far, only those ladies who lost luggage but no one was injured here and no one has been robbed inside the rank, its only those who lost their luggage from the MTN rank and we don’t know what happened along the way.”
We are building a force that is feared by criminals but trusted by the people.” — Chief Patrick Jaca. 🗣️👮♂️
