A person who laid a charge against the Deputy Mayor of the Bitou Municipality at Plettenberg Bay in the Western Cape for allegedly firing a gun in public, says he is disappointed at how the case is being handled.

A video that’s been widely circulated on social media, shows deputy mayor Nokuzola Kolwapi shooting into the air to celebrate her son’s homecoming ceremony in KwaNokuthula, last weekend, following his initiation.

In a statement, she says it was a toy gun.
Welcome Tshala, the leader of the Non-Aligned Civic Movement, says several concerned community members contacted him about the incident.
Police spokesperson, Chris Spies, has confirmed that no arrests have been made in the the case and they are still investigating.
“The person that was seen shooting on the video was not taken in for questioning. Neither were tests done for gun residue on the hand that was actually firing and also further test to be done on the clothing that was worn. That thing never happened on Sunday. It shows there is a deliberate attempt on the side of certain officers within SAPS to sabotage this case. And thevy giving the Deputy Mayor preferential treatment.”
