City of Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero.
Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says the city has a workable plan to mitigate the ongoing water challenges in the municipality.
The water problems are due to Johannesburg Water’s infrastructure maintenance, which has affected reservoir levels. Morero was speaking in Johannesburg after a virtual engagement with Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina.
Morero says that, in essence, the meeting was looking at whether there are improvements in terms of water coming back.
“We did indicate that there’s still a lot of challenges in areas like, Midrand, but we also gave a report about the second phase which means we have to plan much better and ensure that there’s intervention either through water tankers and other intervention to ensure that communities in Soweto and Lenasia are not affected adversely in terms of the provision around the 5th and 6th of January. Then we will be implementing the third phase,” he adds.
