Deputy principal arrested in connection of the murder of a Tembisa principal.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is tight-lipped on the reported arrest of more suspects in connection with the killing of Simon Lubisi – a 61-year-old principal at a school in Tembisa, east of Johannesburg.
This follows the appearance of a 50-year-old deputy principal in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
Unknown suspects entered Lubisi’s home, shot him, assaulted and robbed his family of laptops and cellphones.
The accused was arrested following the incident on Sunday.
The NPA’s Spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane says the accused is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
“A 50-year-old man Themba Diwajo appeared before the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. The case relates to the murder of a school principal Simon Lubisi who was attacked at his home during an alleged house robbery in December 2025. The accused was remanded in custody and will be back in court on 24 December for a formal bail hearing.”
