The late Warrick Stock, known as DJ Warras.
The ANC has called for the murder of Warrick Stock, better known as DJ Warras, to be treated with the highest priority and allocated proper resources.
DJ Warras was shot dead in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday.
ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu says DJ Warras was a courageous and vocal champion of the rule of law and dedicating his platform to the fight against the illegal occupation and hijacking of buildings.
“We call on the South African Police Service to treat this case with the highest priority. Every resource, including the CCTV footage under review, must be leveraged to ensure swift arrests and a watertight prosecution. There can be no sanctuary for those who believe they can silence activists and terrorise communities with impunity.”
Police identify woman as person of interest in Warras murder
Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety, Mgcini Tshwaku, says police have identified a woman as a person of interest in the murder.
The woman is alleged to have been a former tenant at the Zambezi building in Johannesburg’s CBD, where DJ Warras was shot.
Five people have been taken in for questioning so far.
Tshwaku says police are working around the clock to get to the bottom of the case.
