Emergency services battling several fires in Cape Winelands District

The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Fire Services in the Western Cape says they are battling several fires in the district.

Fire Services spokesperson, Jo-Anne Otto, says some of the fires are in the Stellenbosch area.

Otto says the fire on the R46 road in the Boland has been contained.

“Languedoc and Pappegaaiberg, Stellenbosch CWDM’s teams have responded and deployed to a number of fires in the Languedoc and Pappegaaiberg areas in the Stellenbosch valley. Teams are currently engaged in active fire-fighting. Artois and Boontjiesrivier – R46. The CWDM confirmed that this fire is contained. Aerial teams have stood down and returned to their base, while ground teams and resources from CWDM and Witzenberg Local Municipality will stay on the lines to continue with monitoring and mopping up operations.”
