Construction sign
The construction of Tsebo-Ulwazi High School at Frankfort in the Free State is set to resume in February next year after numerous disruptions.
The Education Department’s spokesperson Howard Ndaba says R30.9 million of the allocated R130 million has been paid to the contractor.
Ndaba says construction started in 2023 but the project was marred by labour disputes, community protests and poor performance leading to the termination of the tender.
Ndaba elaborates, “The remaining work has been quantified. A new tender was advertised to complete the work, which closed yesterday 8 December 2025. The evaluation process is commencing today, 9 December 2025, with anticipated appointment of a new contractor in January 2026, with work commencing in February 2026. The contract period is 13 months, which will then bring the anticipated completion date to March 2027.”
