Police hunt suspects after a taxi boss was shot dead in Woodmead

Gauteng police are investigating a murder case after a well-known taxi boss from Alexandra township in Johannesburg was shot dead in Woodmead on Thursday evening.

Police say the victim and another man were in a parking lot when two men fired shots at them.

The 52-year-old taxi boss died on the scene.

Provincial police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says, “It is suspected that the killing is related to an ongoing fight between taxi associations in Alexandra. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
