Cosatu disappointed that reconfiguration of alliance has not happened

Cosatu First Deputy President, Mike Shingange says they are disappointed that despite years of talks about the reconfiguration of the alliance, it still hasn’t happened.

He was reacting to the ANC’s admission that it failed to persuade the SACP not to contest future elections independently.

The SACP said it is forced to go alone at it in future elections after the ANC’s refusal to reconfigure the alliance in over 22 years.

But Shingange says although they are disappointed that they did not see the realisation of a reconfigured alliance, they will continue to engage their partners to avoid a possible split of the alliance.
