Suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Deputy chief, Julius Mkhwanazi has testified that his relationship with attempted murder accused, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala began in 2022.
Commissioner Mkhwanazi has taken to the stand at the Madlanga Commission.
Mkhwanazi has been accused of unlawfully signing two memorandum of understanding with Matlala’s companies.
This includes the fitting of blue lights in his vehicles.
Mkhwanazi elaborates: “My relation with Mr Matlala started in 2022 after my team members introduced me to Mr Mike van Wyk, the director of Medicare 24 in Boksburg. Yes, it was after the first COVID-19 towards the end of the year with Mr Mike van Wyk.”
