Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos.
With one eye on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament and another on the future, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos named his 25-player squad for the continental tournament in Morocco later this month.
The squad is a blend of youth and experience.
Two of the brightest young emerging stars, Queens Park Rangers’ Tylon Smith, and Shandre Campbell, who plays for Club Brugge in Belgium, have both been included.
They are both 20 years old, and Smith captained Amajita to their first Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations title earlier this year.
The biggest surprise was the omission of Mamelodi Sundowns’ goal-scoring machine, Iqraam Rayners, and the injury-plagued veteran, Themba Zwane.
The tournament starts on December 21.
