Shoppers urged to be extra careful as they head out for Black Friday

Shoppers have been warned to be extra careful when they embark on Black Friday shopping.

Police in the Northern Cape have warned that robberies around ATMs could be on the rise during Black Friday shopping, and shoppers should stay alert.

SAPS has called on communities to work with law enforcement to keep the festive season safe and crime-free.

Police spokesperson Molefi Shemane says to avoid being the victim of crime on this Black Friday, the public should adhere to safety tips.

“Have your bank card ready before approaching any ATM and if you notice any suspicious individual near the ATM, do not proceed with the transaction. Remain alert and be aware of your surroundings throughout the entire transaction. Never accept assistance from strangers at an ATM; rather seek help inside.”
