ANC top leadership at the ordinary sitting of the NEC in Germiston on the East Rand on August 1, 2025.
The African National Congress (ANC) will hold its crucial Special National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, on Monday.
The one-day meeting is expected to discuss preparations for the party’s 5th National General Council planned for Nasrec Expo Centre, which takes place next Monday to Friday. It will review the implementation of the resolution adopted in the last Conference.
The ANC says the meeting will mainly discuss preparations for its NGC and so far, all regional structures are directed to conclude their conferences before the NGC, with Johannesburg and Tshwane set to hold theirs on Wednesday until Friday.
However, this Special NEC will have to chart a way forward after a bilateral attempt to convince the South African Communist Party (SACP) not to independently participate in future elections failed.
Earlier, the ANC Secretary General said they have to decide if they fail to find each other.
