Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero addresses the media in Nasrec on November 23, 2025.
Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero says they will continue to sustain the level of service delivery in the city. He addresses the media on the last day of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Nasrec.
Residents were alarmed by the cleanliness ahead of the summit.
Merero says, “Simple, check us on Tuesday. If we are not on the ground on Tuesday, then it means we are going for the summit, but if you see us in all the regions to continue to unblock service delivery failures through what we call the Mayoral High Impact Service Delivery, we will be there in all the regions.”
He adds, “I said that when I came into power that the city has capacity to turn around and then I said part of my work is that I deal with constraints within the management to ensure I block was has been making them not to move as managers, as leaders, I have always said its a management issue so deal with that, correct that…political stability, ensure at the mayoral committee you’ve got stability and all of us are focused on one objective, on one job, that is why we see the results now, took a long time from from November to around June, we had to set up the system, that is why we are seen the results now, not really where we want to be, there are still issues I have to attend address internally, debt management to happen.”
He says the city did not have to cut any resources to prepare for the summit.
“Not really, it’s the budget that we passed, as we know in June we passed a fully funded budget covering all seven regions – with this Region, Region F, being part of those and the work of the budget we allocated… So, we didn’t have to top up on anything; we had to implement what we had budgeted for.”
