Ramaphosa confident of leader’s declaration regardless of US’ stance

President Cyril Ramaphosa is confident that a leader’s declaration will be issued following the G20 Summit in Johannesburg this weekend.

World leaders are meeting this weekend in Johannesburg for the G20 Summit, minus the US, which earlier said it would not be attending.

US President Donald Trump has vowed to reject the summit outcomes prompting the possibility of Ramaphosa issuing the Chair’s Statement.

The G20 Chair’s Statement is issued when a single member differs and a formal, consensus-based Leaders’ Declaration or Communique is not reached.
