Weather to improve after heavy rains and floods across South Africa

The South African Weather Service says that inclement weather conditions are expected to improve in the coming days.

This follows heavy rains and flooding in parts of the country.

Severe warning for adverse weather conditions was issued for Gauteng and Mpumalanga over the weekend.

Less severe conditions remain for the Free State, North West and KwaZulu-Natal, with motorists urged to steer clear of submerged roads and bridges.

Cold weather is, however, expected to continue in Gauteng.

Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says, “The warnings lasted up until last night, in terms of the orange levels, especially for the north-eastern parts. For today, cloudy conditions are expected to persist in the central and the eastern parts of the country with a yellow level 2  warning of disruptive rain, which is a high likelihood of minor impact.

“Do take caution if you’re around the lowveld. But if you’ll be in Gauteng, expect it to be cloudy there, with cold temperatures, so we’ll see the decrease of more of the inclement weather, especially from tomorrow, as we’re not having much more of this adverse weather conditions.”
