File image | Franklin Sonn, former South African ambassador to the United States, has passed away at the age of 86.
Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, says the city joins the nation in mourning the passing of Dr Franklin Sonn.
Sonn died on Saturday in Cape Town at the age of 86.
Hill-Lewis says Sonn was an extraordinary Capetonian whose work as an educator, diplomat and business leader touched generations across the city and beyond.
“We owe Dr Sonn a debt of gratitude, not only for his achievements, but for his leadership in nation building and his vision of an inclusive, just and empowered society. Our city has lost one of its great moral and civic architects. Our thoughts are with his family,” says Hill-Lewis.
