RTMC to probe N2 Umzumbe crash


The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport says the National Road Traffic Management Corporation will conduct a thorough probe into last night’s crash on the N2 at Umzumbe.

Five people, believed to be members of the same family, died instantly when their light motor vehicle collided head-on with a seven-seater minibus.

Four other occupants in the two vehicles were injured.

The department’s spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says, “We are still trying to reach out to the family members, the relatives, and the team from the Road Traffic Inspectorate who are assisting with the work. We are working with the SAPS, and there is an investigation that is currently underway. The matter has been handed over to the SAPS. The Road Traffic Management Corporation from national will be coming down to do a thorough investigation.”
