High Court to sentence influencer Livhuwani Madadzhe in fraud case

The High Court in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, is expected to hand down a sentence in the fraud case against social media influencer, Livhuwani Madadzhe, on Wednesday.

Madadzhe faked his mother’s death and claimed insurance money in 2017. He has already pleaded guilty.

Judge Thogomelani Tshidada is expected to hand down a sentence against Madadzhe in the two fraud cases.

Judge Tshidada earlier dismissed an application to recuse himself.

This is after Madadzhe’s lawyer, Advocate Khuliso Negota, made an application for Judge Tshidada to recuse himself, arguing that he would be biased.

Judge Tshidada dismissed the application, saying the fact that Madadzhe has pleaded guilty will not change even if another judge takes over the sentencing.
