Sibiya grilled about late lawyer’s claims regarding Meyiwa’s death

Cross examination of Muzi Sibiya, accused number one in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial continues on Tuesday.

Sibiya has been confronted by his late lawyer Thulani Mngomezulu’s claims that Longwe Twala shot himself during a scuffle with his then girlfriend Zandi Khumalo and subsequently killed Meyiwa.

Mngomezulu previously told the court that three shots were fired, one bullet hit Meyiwa, one mistakenly hit Twala on the ankle and the other grazed Zandi Khumalo.

During cross-examination at the High Court in Pretoria on Monday, Sibiya says, “What the late Mngomezulu said, I know nothing about it and I don’t know how he said this, he’s no longer here to come and answer for himself and I don’t even know to how he was going to prove it. What I know is the following, I know nothing about the death of Senzo.”

Sibiya’s cross-examination continues on Tuesday and the state is expected to wrap up cross-examination and re-examination will begin.
