CFSF calls for army’s deployment to fight Cape Flats gangs

The Cape Flats Safety Forum (CFSF) has reiterated its call for the deployment of the army in gang-infested areas on the Cape Flats.

This comes as several areas in Cape Town continue to grapple with high levels of gang-related shootings, which have claimed the lives of many people.

In the latest incident, three men were shot dead in Leiden in Delft on Sunday in an alleged gang-related shooting.

The Forum’s Chairperson Abie Isaacs says the rate of gun violence remains a big concern.

Isaacs says, “Our concern is that there is a lot of guns floating around and again it raises an issue, is there a possible sinister foster operating? The only people who will be able to assist and detect whether there’s a sinister force operating is once the President put his pen to paper as the President of the Republic of South Africa and deploy the SANDF as the force multiplier to stabilise and minimise these areas.”
