Border post patrols beefed up in Limpopo ahead of the festive season

Police say they have beefed up patrols on the N1 towards the Beitbridge Border Post and the border line in Musina in Limpopo ahead of the festive season.

The Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Jan Scheepers, says they are collaborating with the Border Management Agency and the community to curb cross-border crime.

Scheepers says that they have also recovered suspected stolen and hijacked vehicles which were destined to be smuggled to Zimbabwe.

“From the 1st of April 2024 up until the 31st of March 2025, we have recovered 174 vehicles, and into that process we also arrested 176 suspects, 40 of them were trying to cross the border with false documents. They were those documents from financial institutions, from the car dealership to get through. We have managed to arrest them,” says Scheepers.
