The trial of eight gang members accused of robbing the Malamulele police station of firearms is expected to resume in the High Court in Polokwane, Limpopo, on Thursday morning.
The accused allegedly stole several firearms from the police station and targeted other businesses in November four years ago.
They face 94 charges, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and multiple counts of robbery, amongst others.
They are alleged to have used the stolen firearms to carry out a crime spree across Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
There were initially ten accused. One of them, Gardon Mukutu, died in custody last month, while charges against another accused, Lesley Leshabane, were withdrawn.
The trial was adjourned on Monday after one of the accused, Tebogo Ramalatso, fell ill and collapsed in court.
Judge Jane Ngobeni postponed the matter to afford the accused, Ramalatso, time to heal.
The accused, Fokisi Mabunda, Tshepho Masha, Desmond Phala, Lucas Mahabane, Nicholas Manzini, Tshepiso Matemana, Tebogo Ramalatso and Sello Sedi, allegedly carried out a string of crimes across several areas.
They were arrested in January 2022 and allegedly found in possession of multiple firearms and ammunition linked to some of the reported cases in those areas.
