Water supply in some suburbs in the South of Johannesburg has been affected after the Eikenhof pumping station was hit by an electricity outage.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says power has been restored to some parts of the suburbs.
He says work is under way to restore power to the rest of the suburbs affected by the outage and subsequent water supply interruptions.
In a statement, the Municipality says Rand Water is pumping at full capacity at Eikenhof.
“Rand Water has resumed full pumping operations at Eikenhof Booster Station. The bulk supplier has been pumping 100% since 16:00 this afternoon, following the earlier power outage experienced this morning. At this stage Johannesburg Water has not observed any impacts on its system. However technical team will continue to monitor all affected systems closely, as some areas may still experience delayed effects. ”
