King Misuzulu meets govt officials to discuss infrastructure projects

AmaZulu King Misuzulu is currently meeting with Public Works Minister Dean McPherson, KwaZulu-Natal MEC Martin Meyer and other officials at the Emashobeni Royal Palace behind closed doors.

The King is expected to be briefed on infrastructure projects, the Expanded Public Works Programme and reforms aimed at improving service delivery.

Speaking to the media ahead of the meeting, MEC Meyer said the department’s recent audit found several government buildings illegally occupied in rural areas, including Ulundi.

He says he plans to discuss the issue with the King.

In a statement, the Minister says, “The minister will present the Department’s and its entitles’ plan for infrastructure delivery in KwaZulu-Natal to his majesty including ongoing construction and maintenance projects, job creation through Expanded Public Work Program (EPWP) and the implementation of the infrastructure reforms like the upcoming Social Facilitation Framework (SFF) to improve delivery performance in the province.”
