Jozini residents want KZN govt intervention in cross border crimes

The community of Nondabuya area under Jozini Local Municipality in the far northern KwaZulu-Natal, who are victims of cross border crime, are desperate for interventions.

Syndicates are targeting locals who drive bakkies and other big vehicles. Two weeks ago, two people were killed and their vehicles were taken across the border to Mozambique.

Victims have previously spoken to SABC News about their plight.

This has prompted the provincial government to hold community engagement in the area to get firsthand information.

Premier Thami Ntuli is also expected to unveil crime fighting strategies.

Residents believe that it is going to be difficult for Ntuli to fight against crime in the area because the main cause is the high unemployment rate therefore, they say he needs to put other law enforcement agencies from other countries to deal with crime.
