Ten suspects are expected to appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates’ Court on Monday after being arrested in the Central Karoo on charges of intimidation and extortion.
Police spokesperson, Chris Spies, says the case was reported to the Murraysburg Police Station.
Investigations revealed that in September this year, a group attended a meeting that a wind energy facility construction company hosted at a premises in Pastorie Street, Murraysburg.
During the meeting, the group allegedly made demands and threatened the company representative with violence.
The suspects – three women and seven men, aged between 35 and 64, were arrested on Friday in Graaff-Reinet.
