ActionSA wants probe into safety of Durban’s Homii building

ActionSA has called on the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal to conduct an immediate investigation into the safety compliance of the Homii building in the Durban CBD.

This follows last Friday’s incident in which the Dlamini twins fell into a lift shaft.

One of the twins died while the other is in a critical condition in hospital.

ActionSA’s KwaZulu-Natal chairperson Zwakele Mncwango says, “As ActionSA we have filed an urgent motion before the council meeting, which will be meeting tomorrow. This motion is tabled in terms of rule 22 which means it’s an urgent motion where you provide a motivation, and as ActionSA what we asking from council, we asking to ensure that there is an immediate and independent investigation done to ensure safety and compliance on this building and also we are calling for a temporary closure and suspension of operations in the building until all standards are met and verified.”
