Cross-examination of accused one to continue in Meyiwa case

The cross-examination of Muzi Sibiya, accused one in the Senzo Meyiwa trial,  is expected to continue on Wednesday at the Pretoria High Court.

Five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain, who was shot and killed in Vosloorus on Gauteng’s East Rand.

On Tuesday, Sibiya accused the investigating team in the case of omitting to speak about the presence of suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya at the Meyiwa murder crime scene.

Sibiya also alleged that police officers often cover for each other without elaborating further.

“Police officers protect one another a lot. Police officers do cover for each other. If now you can watch our television, you will see that police are covering for each other. It is only now that it is coming to light that who is doing what, when?”

State Prosecutor Advocate George Baloyi replied: “The matters you are talking about are the matters that are being investigated, and you are putting them as if they are facts.”
