The trial of the man accused of setting alight the Usindiso building in the Johannesburg CBD is expected to continue in the High Court sitting at Palm Ridge on Tuesday morning.
Sthembiso Mdlalose was arrested for allegedly starting the deadly fire that killed 76 people in August 2023.
Last month, the 32-year-old abruptly left the courtroom when he was questioned about inconsistencies in his testimony.
Mdlalose initially admitted to starting the fire at the Usindiso building, which led to his arrest.
However, once the trial began, he changed his tune, claiming he was persuaded into taking the blame.
He later gave another version, saying he lied about starting the fire because he wanted to find shelter in prison.
