Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has appealed to the public to support matric learners as they start their final exams on Tuesday.
More than 188 000 matric learners in Gauteng will started their National Senior Certificate exams.
The province aims to maintain its strong performance after achieving an 88.4% pass rate last year.
It also says it has put measures in place to prevent disruptions and ensure safe exam writing conditions at its more than 1000 centres.
Provincial government spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says, “We have over 188 000 candidates who will be sitting for the exams this year. We appeal to all citizens of Gauteng to please rally behind our candidates who will be sitting for their final exam, which is an important time in their school journey.”
“We appeal to everyone to please create a conducive environment for them to prepare and write the exams.”
