Accused number one in former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa trial, Muzi Sibiya says he was kept in handcuffs from Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal as a form of torture.
Sibiya is under cross-examination at the High Court in Pretoria. He and his four co-accused are on trial for Meyiwa’s murder in 2014.
Responding to questions by Adv Zandile Mshololo, Sibiya says police kept him in handcuffs whilst transporting him from Kempton Park to his homestead in Mahlabathini to see his parents.
He says, “I wouldn’t know the reason, but according to me it was just a form of torture, for me to travel from here handcuffed to back home, and also torture on the side of my parents to see me in that state being handcuffed, and also having been assaulted.”
