Western Cape says its ready for matric exams

The Western Cape Education Department says it has finalised preparations for this year’s matric examinations.

Some matriculants will sit for Computer Application Technology on Tuesday while most of them will write languages later this week.

Western Cape Education Minister David Maynier has appealed to communities across the province to avoid disruptions at or near schools.

Crimes related to gangs, taxis and extortion have affected the Cape Flats in particular in recent months.

“To our matrics, thank you for making use of the support given to you by showing up in numbers for extra classes at schools in districts and using the provision materials provided. This is your time to shine. You’ve worked so hard over the past 12 years; all that remains is for you to keep your head down and focus for the next month. Sticking to a schedule, getting enough sleep and practicing healthy eating habits will help put you in the right mindset to be your best,” says Maynier.
