Limpopo government to hold online prayer session for matric learner


The Limpopo Government is expected to hold an online prayer session for matric learners this evening.

Over 100,000 learners will sit for this year’s matric exams starting on Tuesday.

The online prayer meeting will be attended by overgnment officials, traditional leaders, education stakeholders, parents and learners.

Premier Phopi Ramathuba’s spokesperson, Thilivhali Muavha, says the annual prayer session aims to spiritually support Grade 12 learners.

“The annual prayer session is convened to spiritually support and encourage Grade 12 learners across the province as they enter this critical phase of their academic journey. The event will bring together Members of the Legislature, Members of the Executive Council, mayors, the clergy, traditional leaders, education stakeholders, parents and learners. Premier Doctor Phophi has defined the moment for our Grade 12 learners. We call upon communities, parents and all sectors of society to support our learners emotionally, spiritually and morally as they prepare for their examinations,” says Muavha.

Meanwhile, the Education Department in Limpopo says it is ready to administer the 2025 National Senior Certificate Examinations which start on Tuesday with language and computer application papers.

More than 100-thousand full time grade twelve learners will sit for the exams across various examination centers in the province. In 2024 the province produced an 85-point one percent pass rate, up from 79-point five percent the previous year.

Education officials are targeting an improvement in the 2025 matric results upon the conclusion of the exams. The department is optimistic that it will be able to produce top marks that will land Limpopo in the top five spot nationally.

Over 100-thousand learners are registered as full time learners, while 25 000 learners are part time grade twelve learners. A pledge was signed by candidates promising to adhere to the principles of honesty and integrity. Matric exams start on Tuesday.
