Marais condemns murder of 7 men on Cape Flats, calls for arrests


Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, has condemned the murder of 7 men in Phillipi East, on the Cape Flats.

The incident happened last night at the Better Life Informal Settlement. Marais has urged the police to track down the perpetrators.

“We cannot allow these killings to become norm. Those responsible must face the full might of the law and that includes those who put weapons in their hands,” she says.

Seven people were shot dead in Philippi East on the Cape Flats, on Friday night. Police spokesperson, Andre Traut said the attack happened on Road 53, near Better Life.

Traut  says police have launched a large-scale manhunt to find those responsible. He says the motive for this attack is unclear and no arrests have been made.
