Police graphic on CIT robbery,
There’s been a cash-in-transit robbery along Main Reef Road in Stormill, west of Johannesburg. The cash van has been bombed, and it is not yet clear at this stage if anyone was injured.
Eyewitnesses on the scene say a group of suspects travelling in three cars used one of their vehicles and rammed into the G4sh van, causing it to explode.
One of the vehicles used by the criminals, an SUV, also caught fire and is stationed not far from the burnt cash van.
Three security guards travelling in the cash van escaped unharmed and are still on the scene. However, the suspects managed to escape.
Unconfirmed reports suggest this was a failed robbery as there was no cash in the van during the robbery.
Police are still on the scene.
