National Taxi Alliance Chairperson Thamsanqa Moya.
The family of slain taxi official, Thamsanqa Moya, say they are still trying to come to terms with his untimely death.
Moya’s memorial service is under way at the Diepkloof Community Hall in Soweto.
Moya, who was the National Taxi Alliance’s Gauteng chairperson, was shot dead along the Soweto Highway while on his way to a taxi meeting in the Johannesburg CBD last week.
Police are still searching for those responsible for his assassination.
Moya’s sister Bongi Dladla says the family is shattered as he planned on retiring next year.
“My brother saw the taxi industry as a daily job and not a war zone, he was at work. He had passion of what he was doing because he grew up seeing what’s happening in this industry. If only the person who did this knew that my brother was about to retire as he was turning 60 next year.”
