Masemola testifies on KZN Political Killings Task Team complaints

National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola has testified about the complaints raised against the KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team.

Masemola told the Madlanga Commission how associate professor Mary De Haas had filed numerous grievances against the PKTT, ranging from its alleged irregular formation, misconduct, malicious arrests and corruption.

However, the national police commissioner defended the PKTT’s work, stating that the complaints raised against it lack substance.

Masemola was testifying at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, where he concluded his evidence on Tuesday.

“As far as I’m aware, there is no substance to those complaints. Additionally, these complaints were made to the IPID, I’m aware they were made to Parliament. An example to demonstrate the lack of substance, Ms. DeHaas complained about a Sergeant Dlamini who went on and ended up being convicted by a court of law. So it is complaints that really did not hold any substance and they keep complaining.”
