SANParks Week gives citizens free entry until Sunday

The 20th annual South African National Parks (SANParks) Week has begun, giving citizens free entry to most of the 21 protected areas managed by SANParks until Sunday.

In the Western Cape, the West Coast National Park is dazzling visitors with a spectacular burst of spring flowers.

Park Manager Charlene Adams says last year’s floods and storms hampered the season, but this year there is much to celebrate.

She says the Posberg section, open only during the flower season, offers some of the park’s most breathtaking displays.

“The park is mainly constituted of old farms, so these were previously ploughed areas, so we have noticed that in the areas that were the most disturbed, those are the areas that has the most beautiful flowers displayed in the park,” says Adams.
