Transport department awaits Creecy to act on illegal driving schools

Department of Transport is still waiting for Minister Barbara Creecy to implement a law that was passed last year that will root out unregistered driving schools.

Speaking in Kimberley during an engagement session with driving school operators and owners, Director in the National Department of Transport, Lephoyi Modisane, says enforcement of this law will also assist in fighting fraud and corruption at testing stations.

“We are just waiting for the minister to promulgate the regulations and then we will take it from there. The driving school industry has never been regulated. So, this is the initiative that the department has taken to regulate driving school, so that we do away with the fraud and corruption that has been happening,” says Modisane. The
