Umzimkhulu Court to hear bail closing arguments in Magaqa murder case

The Umzimkhulu Magistrate’s Court in KwaZulu-Natal is expected to hear closing arguments in the bail application of a former municipal manager accused of killing former councillor and African National Congress Youth League secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa, on Friday.

The state is opposing Zweliphansi Sikhosana’s bail, arguing that he would jeopardise the integrity of the case.

Sikhosana was arrested in July. This, after a convicted hitman, Sibusiso Ncengwa, implicated him and the late district mayor, Mluleki Ndobe, as the masterminds behind Magaqa’s murder.

Sikhosana was previously arrested in connection with the murder, but the state provisionally withdrew the charges against him.
